Here’s an important question for you…
Do you consider your business-to-business marketing agency an expense or an investment?
Are they costing you money, or are they making you money?
Any business-to-business marketing firm worth it’s salt knows how to generate revenues, profits, and attractive ROIs for their clients. Particularly in my industry, which is online marketing – an inefficient and and fast-growing market.
[Background: I’m the Lead Strategist @ WebMechanix]
The internet is so large, so widely used, and growing so fast that there is gigantic opportunity – in almost every industry.
The opportunity for your company may be in one of any number of areas like,
- paid search,
- organic search,
- social media,
- conversion tracking/optimization,
- or something else
But even without knowing the specifics of your situation, I can guarantee you that there is something you could be doing that would improve your results.
The main reason I can be so confident of this is because this web stuff is still new. Not many companies/people in the world are really good at web marketing, yet.
And if they are good in one area, they probably aren’t that good in another. PLUS, the space is evolving quickly everyday.
Sure things like search engine optimization and pay-per-click marketing have been around for over 10 years now (still new, really). But also new, game-changing stuff like Twitter just started getting hot a couple years ago.
And there’s always new “hot stuff.” And it’s going to keep getting hotter.
Like this new social networking site I learned about from my friends @ReadWriteWeb, (popular web technology hub) called Quora. Founded by the former CTO of Facebook, lots of people are talking about it being “the next big thing.”
Will it be? I don’t know.
And the truth is, that nobody really knows. Even the people closest to the situation. The next big thing could explode or it could flop.
What I’m trying to get at is that you should be selective about who you give your money to. And ask for more details when somebody claims to be an expert.
Because the truth is that a lot of B2C and B2B marketing agencies are “fakers.” They act like they know what they’re talking about, and they do…on a surface level. But they may not be as strong as you think. And if you’re not careful, you can spend a lot of money and not get much out of the deal.
Almost all of our clients get calls from our competitors – whether it’s an SEO company overseas, a local SEO company Baltimore/Washington, a freelancer, or an agency from out-of-state. Many of them are called upon several times a month.
But you know what? They never leave us.
You wanna’ know why? Because we MAKE them money, not vice versa.
How about you? Is it time to fire your business-to-business marketing agency? Are they an expense or an investment?
